DA' HELL HAPPENED #5: WWE Monday Night RAW, May 16, 2016
The last RAW before Extreme Rules opens with the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship AJ Styles. Styles cuts a promo saying he's sick of people calling him a liar when he says he doesn't need Anderson & Gallows to beat Roman Reigns for the title, and he did not align with them in the beginning. The champion comes out only to be told by Styles he is "the guy" he will defeat Sunday and take the title away from. Anderson & Gallows come out, and seconds after, The Usos appears in the ring on Reigns' side. Reigns punches Styles and takes him out.
Sami Zayn Vs. Cesaro
Quick match, as WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz and Kevin Owens were on commentary, and got involved early in the match. Shane McMahon comes out and sets a tag team match between Miz/Owens Vs. Zayn/Cesaro. Stephanie McMahon interrupts her brother and sets a tag match between Miz/Cesaro Vs. Zayn/Owens. Yes, Owens and Zayn pairing. I'm on the stars. Shane agrees.
WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz & Cesaro Vs. Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens
A good tag team match between all competitors of the Fatal Four Way IC Title Match Sunday. In the end, Owens stood tall after laying Zayn out in the ring.
The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico) Vs. Scott Jackson & Brian Kennedy
Primo and Epico have debuted as The Shining Stars. They cut a promo about how great Puerto Rico is before and after the match. Quickly, they laid out Jackson & Kennedy.
Dean Ambrose calls out Chris Jericho after Y2J wrapped The Lunatic Fringe wth a straight jacket and attacked him on SmackDown last week. Jericho comes out, demanding his 15,000$ and an apology. Ambrose refuses to apologize, and challenges Jericho to a match at Extreme Rules, as a steel cage lowers. A mop, a barbed wire wrapped 2x4, a kendo stick, a straight jacket, and other unordinary weapons are on top of the cage. Ambrose announces the first ever Asylum Match for Sunday, when he and Jericho get locked inside the cage.
Becky Lynch Vs. Dana Brooke
Are they going through with a love story between a backstage officer and Dana? No, please no. Anyway, Dana looks a bit lost without Emma, but I believe she will adapt, just like she did in great fashion in NXT. Not a great match between these two, and didn't do much to level up both competitors. Still, Lynch continues to be over with the crowd, and needs to move over.
Golden Truth Vs. Breezango
Michael Cole remembering me it has been 5 months since Truth and Goldust started this whole "tag team partner" thing really hurts me. Although it has finally happened, they still lost to Tyler Breeze and Fandango after a miscommunication. In a backstage segment, Truth and Goldust united again after being mocked by Breeze and Fandango. Golden Truth, surprise me. Hopefully Sunday.
WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day came out to the ring and revealed a time machine in the ring. Old Jamaican Kofi Kingston came out of the machine. They went to the inside of the machine again, only to get back to the bygone era, as a reference to The Vaudevillains. Soon after, they were attacked by the #1 Contender's. Man, they look so badass. A real threat to The New Day's title reign.
The Usos (w/ WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns) Vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (w/ AJ Styles)
Another fantastic match between both teams. They deliver everytime they are in the ring. After the match, a brawl between The Family and The Club ensued. Styles and Reigns were left alone. A short brawl ended with a chair shot from Reigns to Styles. Anderson & Gallows provided a distraction and were knocked out by the champ with a "Superman Punch" each. Styles gets an open and attacks Reigns with the chair, giving him a Styles Clash on top of it.
Big Cass Vs. D'Von (w/ Bubba Ray Dudley)
Quick match. Good opening promo by Cass, and an impressive victory. The Dudleys is SAWFT, and this segment was useless.
WWE United States Champion Kalisto Vs. Alberto Del Rio
That little botch on top of the stage in the entrance by Kalisto though. Good match from these two Mexican superstars. What a spot on the outside, as Kalisto attempts to deliver a Hurrincarana, only to be shorten by Del Rio who throws "that little mosquito" against the barricade. Backstage, Kalisto's tag team partner Sin Cara is watching the match when he's attacked by Rusev. Minutes later, he drags Sin Cara out to ringside as the match goes on, and continues to attack him. This provides Del Rio a distraction, one that he capitalizes on by defeating the United States Champion. With a superkick and the "Accolade" submission hold applied on Kalisto, Rusev makes a statement with a vicious attack, and sets big momentum heading into Extreme Rules.
The Women's Championship contract signing for Sunday's Charlotte Vs. Natalya match is set by Shane and Stephanie McMahon. Ric Flair introduces his daughter after interrupting the McMahons. Natalya heads over to the ring as well. Another great heel promo is cut by the champion. Pure magic on the mic. After reading what was in the contract, Ric got mean because another stipulation had been added. If Flair appears at ringside, even walking and doing nothing directly in the match, Charlotte will have to forfeit her title. Stephanie slaps Ric, and as Charlotte heads towards Steph to confront her, Natalya takes the champ down, applies her the "Sharpshooter", and the champ taps out. Natalya holds the Women's Championship up high, as RAW goes off the air.
