DA' HELL HAPPENED #77: WWE SmackDown LIVE - January 9th, 2018
Hello guys, and welcome to another edition of the "Da' Hell Happened" featuring the review of last night's SmackDown LIVE. With the Mixed Match Challenge live on Facebook Watch and the Royal Rumble right around the corner, the blue brand focused its program on those two events, with teams being announced for the MMC, matches for RR and people announcing their participation in the Royal Rumble matches. So let's see what happened of great in this week's SmackDown LIVE!
MATCH OF THE NIGHT: AJ Styles, Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
With Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn having the numbers in their favor at the Royal Rumble in their 2-on-1 Handicap match for the WWE Championship against AJ Styles, Shane McMahon wanted the canadian duo to taste what Styles will on January 28th, having Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura team with the champion in a great 3-on-2 Handicap match. Is WWE giving us a preview of what's to come at the Royal Rumble and consequently at WrestleMania, with one of the two (Nakamura or Orton) having an opportunity at the championship?
I hope so, and I hope it's WK10 again baby.
MVP OF THE NIGHT (HONORABLE MENTIONS):
The Bludgeon Brothers: There's not a more dominant team right now in the WWE than the Bludgeon Brothers. Weeks and weeks dominating the SmackDown LIVE's best tag teams will definitely lead them to the SmackDown Tag Team Championships this year.
Becky Lynch: The "Irish Lasskicker" is back and the Riott Squad was not safe with her around. Lynch is definitely a game changer for the Royal Rumble, but I still don't expect her to be victorious. Still I missed her a lot and I think the SmackDown LIVE's Women's division only gains with her presence.
Mojo Rawley: A new aggressive side of Mojo Rawley has been unleashed since breaking up with Zack Ryder and destroying the "Hype Bros", and this has lead him to the second round of the United States Championship tournament where he will face Bobby Roode.
MVP OF THE NIGHT: AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton
The trio that won the main event match were the biggest winners of the night. AJ Styles has his sights set on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, while Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton have their eyes on the Royal Rumble and headlining WrestleMania with the WWE Championship on the line. And, although there's still 3 weeks in between, they all got huge momentum heading towards the Royal Rumble PPV.
DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan... when will this stop?
Since Kevin Owens got into altercations with Shane McMahon for the first time last year, SmackDown LIVE's very top storylines have always involved the same people, and with the same ending. It's becoming a bit boring. We need new directions for this feud, please.
And with this I finish this week's final DHH. Next week I will be back for more of the same. See you there!
