DA' HELL HAPPENED #10: WWE Monday Night RAW, July 18, 2016
Hey everyone! My name is RĂºben Duarte, and welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened", this time with the review segment by segment of RAW from July 18, 2016.
RAW began with Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon revealing who they picked to be the GM's of RAW and SmackDown from now on. Stephanie revealed Mick Foley to be RAW's GM, Shane revealed Daniel Bryan to be SmackDown's GM. Those are great choices, don't you think?
Cesaro & Sami Zayn Vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens
Match between four rivals. From these four, only Chris Jericho has gone through a WWE Draft, which is something very interesting and represents a sign of the changes WWE has gone through over the last years and the revolution that happened in its roster. Incredible tag team action to kickoff RAW, as the team of Cesaro and Sami Zayn was victorious after Zayn rolled-up Jericho.
Darren Young Vs. Alberto Del Rio
Darren Young is ready to face the Intercontinental Champion The Miz Sunday at Battleground, attempting to get some momentum ahead of his title match. Young got the victory with a roll-up. 2 matches on RAW, 2 "roll-up" endings, but no one notes that. Still Young looked good.
The New Day, Enzo & Big Cass and John Cena Vs. The Club & The Wyatt Family - 12-man Tag Team match
John Cena cut a promo in the beginning talking about The Club and their attempt to #BeatUpJohnCena Sunday. The problem is he got those Certified G's. Here comes Enzo and Big Cass. Enzo then roasted each member of The Club. Jesus, that was great! "Karl Anderson, you're like Times New Roman font, you're generic as they come!" Uhhh. Out came The Club to cut another promo. They were talking about how they have the chance to beat up John Cena, beat up Enzo, beat up Cass, and beat every single member of The New Day. Here comes the unicorns. They talked about being at the compound and the mind games played by the Wyatts. Pokemon Go reference by Xavier (by the way he is at level 21, that's pretty cool). Here comes The Wyatt Family, ready for a fight. What a great match. Both stories were very well played, as The Wyatts and The New Day' fight spilled all over the arena, and Enzo and Styles continued fighting inside the ring. Some miscommunication between Enzo and Cena, as Enzo clotheslined Cena who was behind Styles. Styles pinned Enzo after a "Styles Clash".
Sin Cara Vs. Baron Corbin
Quick work from Corbin on Cara. He was victorious after "End Of Days". After the match, Corbin attacked Cara, only to have Kalisto to make the save. Corbin left the ring, only to sneak up from behind and attack Kalisto. Remember that Kalisto and Sin Cara decided to split up to pursue singles careers, so they will be drafted separately tomorrow on the Draft.
Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch Vs. WWE Women's Champion Charlotte & Dana Brooke
Cool women action. Natalya forced a disqualification by attacking Lynch. Charlotte also blindsided Banks, attacking her from behind. Charlotte sent a message to Banks and her mystery partner for Battleground after "Natural Selection" on "The Boss".
Zack Ryder & Dolph Ziggler Vs. WWE United States Champion Rusev & Sheamus
Michael Cole treating Ryder as a "up-starter" makes me sick. Cool tag team match. The champion submitted Ziggler using the "Accolade". Rusev seems dangerous, and will face Ryder at Battleground for the title, envisioning destruction to the "Woo Woo" man.
WWE Champion Dean Ambrose Vs. Seth Rollins - WWE Championship match
Both commissioners and GM's of RAW and SmackDown were at ringside. Clearly Stephanie and Foley were behind Rollins, while Shane and Bryan were behind Ambrose. We were treated to a great technical/fast-paced wrestling match. Both men's shoulders were pinned down in the mat. In the end, Stephanie just handed the title to Seth Rollins, declaring him as the new champion. This must have something to do with having two world titles on the brands. During the fallout on the WWE Network, Shane reversed things and Dean Ambrose was declared still the champion after a draw. Ambrose planted Rollins with a Dirty Deeds and regained the possession of his belt. Still, controversy surrounded this match.
Good night everyone, and see you again here next week.
