DA' HELL HAPPENED #28: WWE Monday Night RAW & WWE SmackDown Live, December 19/20 2016

Hey everyone! Welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened", featuring the review of this week's major WWE shows, RAW and SmackDown Live, highlighted by the fallout of WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line and a WWE Championship match. Let's roll!
WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW - DECEMBER 19, 2016
MATCH OF THE NIGHT: RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus and The New Day vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Shining Stars
It was not the main event of the evening, but it was the most well executed match between 8 very talented superstars (even The Shining Stars, who are not an established team at all). Sheamus and Cesaro are fun to watch, and Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows continue to be one of the most under-utilized teams in the WWE. Yet, this match was great.
The New Day lost the RAW Tag Team Titles for Sheamus & Cesaro at Roadblock, thus having their historic 483-day title reign end. |
MVP OF THE NIGHT: Braun Strowman
The most impactful superstar in the whole RAW was Braun Strowman. He went from a midcard match Sunday at Roadblock to a main event spotlight Monday on RAW, and that's what is so confusing to me. 2017 definitely looks awesome for Braun Strowman, and he could be a real threat to names like Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker during the upcoming year.
Strowman demanded Mick Foley to give him Sami Zayn. The consequences for not having Zayn? Destroying superstars, especially Sin Cara, Titus O'Neil, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. |
DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Kevin Owens
And it's time for me to address the elephant in the room. Kevin Owens' Universal Championship reign is the weakest reign since Seth Rollins' WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign. You can't have your champion being toppled by so many people. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman looked superior. Not even mentioning the fact Owens is week after week taken out and not destroying anyone, at least without the help of Chris Jericho. I miss NXT's Kevin Owens so much. Only if WWE could book him like NXT did when he feuded with Sami Zayn. Unfortunately, it's all a dream.
WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE - DECEMBER 20, 2016
MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin got themselves a championship shot after both being counted-out during their match this Tuesday on SmackDown Live. Dolph already had that shot guaranteed, but put it on the line against Corbin. On the one hand, the "Show-Off" looks like a veteran who still needs another world title reign to have a Hall Of Fame career. The "Lone Wolf" breathes future top star and World Champion. It will be interesting to see how they'll make it in 2017.
Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler was SmackDown Live's main event this week, which ended in a double count-out decision. |
MVP OF THE NIGHT: Can't name one single MVP Of The Night. Becky Lynch, The Miz, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin all seemed like possible MVP's of the Night.
DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: La Luchadora
Becky's "La Luchadora" gimmick presentation this week was not completely in vague. It was a reference to Bayley's first gimmick in NXT, as she wrestled wearing a match, under the name "La Luchadora". It was funny, but what the hell? Haha.
SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss faced "La Luchadora", which was non other than Becky Lynch. |
And with this I wrap up this week's edition of "Da' Hell Happened". Next week I'll be back with more reviews for RAW and SmackDown Live, with the blue brand hosting a special "SmackDown Live Wild Card Finals" with a great lineup: three championships matches and the return of John Cena! See you there!
