DA' HELL HAPPENED #29: WWE Monday Night RAW & WWE SmackDown Live, December 26/27 2016

Hey everyone! Welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened" featuring the review of yet another Monday Night RAW episode, and probably the best SmackDown Live in recent memory. RAW highlighted the WWE Universal Championship feud between United States Champion Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, and SmackDown Live... oh my god, SmackDown Live, thank god SmackDown Live exists... was highlighted by three championship matches and the return of John Cena! So let's rol!

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW - DECEMBER 26, 2016

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The New Day for the RAW Tag Team Championships

The RAW tag team division is on fire, and this week they put everyone on notice. Another extrordinary match between Cesaro & Sheamus and The New Day. Cesaro and Sheamus seem to be a unit very united now, despite having the "boo" and "yeah" chants from the crowd, which helps them a lot. They are on top, and well deserved.

Sheamus saved Cesaro by giving Xavier Woods a "Brogue Kick" outta nowhere.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins

As much as it hurts my heart seeing Kevin Owens being booked the way he is being booked, and probably being the weakest booked World Champion in recent memory, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are the MVP's of the night, laying down Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens once again.

Stephanie McMahon started the show and made two matches for the night: Roman Reigns vs. someone of her choosing for the United States Championship, and Seth Rollins vs. Braun Strowman.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: The "Dusty Rhodes" teddy bear head ripped out

I'm not here to judge the whole segment, after all this is wrestling and a heel needs to be a bad guy and needs to do things people wouldn't do or things people find despicable. But this segment was a bit exagerated. Anderson could have stolen the bear, he could have thrown the bear to the ground, he could have written something stupid on the bear, but ripping the bear's head off seemed a bit exaggerated.

Bayley offered Goldust a "Dusty Rhodes" teddy bear. Karl Anderson ripped the teddy bear's head off.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE -  DECEMBER 27, 2016

In 29 editions of Da Hell Happened, I've never written a review about RAW or SmackDown Live that didn't involve a MVP Of The Night, a Match Of The Night and a "Da' Hell Happened" Moment Of The Night. But last night's SmackDown Live was a great show overall, and it wouldn't make sense for me to individualize or say that a match was better than the other when every match had its own great show of quality, not only because of the wrestling shown inside the squared circle, but also because of the stories the superstars of SmackDown Live were able to tell. So with this, I will talk about each match.

The 15-time World Champion John Cena returned to WWE and made clear his intentions: at the Royal Rumble, the WWE Champion will have to face him. If Cena wins at the Rumble, he will break Ric Flair's title record.

The Wyatt Family (C) vs. American Alpha vs. The Usos vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno - Four Corners Elimination Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

The Wyatt Family had an interesting title reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, showing that, when united, they can be very dangerous. No one expected them to lose the championships as we headed into 2017, but they did. American Alpha shocked the world by winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the final SmackDown Live of 2016. And The Wyatt Family showed some cracks in the end of the match, meaning a break-up is imminent. Except for Heath Slater's elimination (Uso failing to super-kick Slater from the top rope), it was a well-executed tag team match. Congratulations to the new Tag Champions, well-deserved!

American Alpha are the first team to win the NXT Tag Team Championship and a main roster Tag Team Championship.
Alexa Bliss (C) vs. Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women's Championship

RAW, learn how to book a good women's feud without saturating the fans by ending it in the right time. The draft split was the best thing that happened for Becky Lynch, who was being toppled by Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and eventually by Bayley. She instantly became an elite woman, and the woman to beat on SmackDown Live. The call-up was the best thing that happened to Alexa Bliss. The only thing she needed was a Women's Championship run on NXT, and being called-up let her show why she desserves to be on top of the women's division, and let her grow up in the process by being on the real big leagues, in the main roster. La Luchadora injected mystery in the end of this feud, and can be the propulsor of the end of this feud, giving Becky something to work, and letting Alexa to move on to another challenger. The match was also very well wrestled, full of near-falls that didn't let the crowd die during the match.

"La Luchadora" interfered in this match, allowing Alexa Bliss to retain the SmackDown Women's Championship. Mickie James?
AJ Styles (C) vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin - Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship

A veteran that needs another world title run to cement a Hall Of Fame career. A hungry young man trying to prove why he says he should be on the top of the food chain. A champion that keeps telling people he is phenomenal, and each night tries to have the match of the night. Three great superstars that kind of represent the past, the present and the future. Except for that "End Of Days" applied on Dolph Ziggler, which Dolph wasn't able to sell properly, it was a match with great spots, especially the double elbow to the heart on the commentary table. To cap off the show, AJ Styles and John Cena went face-to-face, shaking hands and giving people something to watch Royal Rumble next month. We know what they are capable of, and the Royal Rumble will be no exception, mark my words.

John Cena went face-to-face with the winner of the Triple Threat match, AJ Styles. It will be Styles vs. Cena at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship!
And with this I wrap up this week's Da' Hell Happened. Next week we'll be back with more RAW [ :( ] and more SmackDown Live [ :D ]. See you there!!
