DA' HELL HAPPENED #30: WWE Monday Night RAW & WWE SmackDown Live, January 2/3, 2017

Hey everyone! Welcome to the first edition of "Da' Hell Happened" of 2017. As we enter WrestleMania season, WWE's weekly flagship shows fight for ratings, with SmackDown Live beating RAW for the first time last week. Now, RAW and SmackDown is risking it all, trying to get back the dominance on ratings and trying to remain the A-show of the week, respectively. So let's see the best of both shows of this week!

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW - JANUARY 2, 2017

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Roman Reigns (C) vs. Chris Jericho for the United States Championship

Yes, apparently WWE likes to try combinations between four superstars for months and months, and this is what happened with Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Still, Jericho and Reigns delivered an amazing main event this week with the WWE United States Championship on the line. The execution, the near-falls, everything was able to excite me every second of that match.

Roman Reigns retained the WWE United States Championship after a hard-fought battle with Chris Jericho.
MVP OF THE NIGHT: Goldberg and Roman Reigns

You can't argue with this. The two masters of the "Spear" left a big impression in the company heading into the Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns will eventually challenge the WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Goldberg will fight for a chance to challenge the champion at WrestleMania. That creates a big fantasy match: Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns with, maybe, a feud of "Who has the best Spear of all time?". WWE is doing well by creating endless combinations, mixing Kevin Owens, Braun Strowman, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho and others, and really challenge the inspiration and fantasy world of the fans.

After a head-to-head confrontation, Roman Reigns and Goldberg double-speared Braun Strowman to close the show.
DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Titus...

Should Titus be in Hollywood? I don't think so. I liked him when he broke up with Darren Young, but now these bookings with the whole "Titus Brand" and "It's a new Titus" is just ridiculous.

New Day's Xavier Woods defeated Titus O'Neil after O'Neil tried to impersonate and make a mockery out of The New Day.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE - JANUARY 3, 2017

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: The Miz (C) vs. Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship

Ladies and gentlemen, Dean Ambrose is your new WWE Intercontinental Champion! Love it or hate it, the idea of having the "Lunatic Fringe" with gold again is... golden. Did Miz deserve to lose the title? Not at all. But was The Miz kicked away from the Intercontinental Championship title picture and main event status? Absolutely not. Miz will come back stronger, with smarter heelish tactics, to try and capture back what he thinks is rightfully his.

Miz's wife Maryse slapped Ambrose in the face, almost calling for a disqualification. However, Ambrose begged the referee to only force the beautiful French woman to leave ringside.
MVP OF THE NIGHT (HONORABLE MENTIONS): Baron Corbin, John Cena, AJ Styles, Dolph Ziggler

Not only is Baron Corbin growing as a competitor, Corbin is slowly entering the main event scene, having big matches and confronting big people such as John Cena. The 15-time World Champion clearly has a new attitude, sometimes even close to a heel attitude. The WWE Champion AJ Styles, however, was the champion of words, attacking Cena with words clearly coming from a independent scene guy and referencing The Rock has a better actor than Cena ever was and will be, and himself being a better wrestler than he was and will ever be. Dolph Ziggler got the much-needed heel turn most of the fans were waiting for. The old heel Ziggler (at the end of the day, that's his @ account) was awesome and the people started chanting for him because of his performances and promos back in the day.

After losing to Baron Corbin, Kalisto saved Ziggler from an attack by the "Lone Wolf". The "Show-Off" snapped and took his frustrations on Kalisto, screaming "I don't need anybody to help me." at a defenseless Kalisto.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: Dean Ambrose

At the end of the night, the "Lunatic Fringe" was the man. New Intercontinental Champion, overcoming not only The Miz but Maryse, a very important element in Miz's game. Ambrose is back on top after being in the shadow for a bit. With Ellsworth out of the picture, Ambrose is focused and is bringing his A-game back.

Dean Ambrose is now a 2-time WWE Intercontinental Champion.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: La Luchadora, La Luchadora I, La Luchadora II, La Luchadora III, La Luchadora IV

This is not a negative critic to the whole scene, I'm just making fun of it. Next week, there will be 4 different "La Luchadora", believe me.

The identity of the new "La Luchadora" is still unknown, but whoever she is helped SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss take out Becky Lynch.

And with this I wrap up this week's Da' Hell Happened. I'll be back next week with a new article as we head into the Royal Rumble and the Road to WrestleMania. See you there!
