DA' HELL HAPPENED #48: WWE Payback

Hey everyone and welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened" featuring the full review of last night's WWE Payback PPV. The show was highlighted by two titles changing hands, a House of Horrors match and a main event that saw a bloodied Roman Reigns be destroyed by Braun Strowman. So let's see what WWE gave to us for this year's edition of Payback!

RESULTS:

Enzo Amore & Big Cass def. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows - No rate
Chris Jericho def. Kevin Owens (C) to win the United States Championship - 3.25*
Austin Aries def. Neville (C) via DQ - 3.75*
Alexa Bliss def. Bayley (C) to win the RAW Women's Championship - 3.5*
Hardy Boyz (C) def. Sheamus & Cesaro to retain the RAW Tag Team Championships - 3*
Bray Wyatt def. WWE Champion Randy Orton in a House of Horrors match - No rate
Seth Rollins def. Samoa Joe - 3.5*
Braun Strowman def. Roman Reigns - 4*

Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton fought inside Wyatt's House of Horrors before finishing the match inside the arena.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT (HONORABLE MENTIONS):

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Austin Aries: We saw these two face each other at WrestleMania, unfortunately that match got relegated to the Kickoff. At Payback, they had the opportunity to face each other in the main card, and they stole the show. An awesome match, worthy of honorable mention as the match of the night. The booking for the end was genius, as it made clear that Austin Aries has Neville's number, but the "King Of The Cruiserweights" will stop at nothing and will do anything to hold on to his championship.

Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe: It's surprising to see that these men have only met once before in their careers, but we knew they were going to deliver at Payback, and they did just that. A very technical match, contested in its majority inside the ring. In the end, Seth Rollins keeps the momentum he received after defeating Triple H at WrestleMania, while Samoa Joe continues to be a force to be reckoned with, and a monster to fear.

Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins fought at WWE Payback in personal matters.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns

The main event of the show was a match between Braun Strowman and a returning Roman Reigns after being assaulted by the "Monster Among Men" three weeks ago on RAW. It's amazing to see some of the other matches in the card and have this one as the best of the night, but I'm being as honest as I can possibly be. Roman Reigns was clearly hurt (kayfabe, I know, shut up), and Braun Strowman has been the most dominant male superstar on the roster for the past few weeks, destroying anybody in front of him. Clearly, Strowman had the upper-hand, and defeated Reigns. After the match, Strowman attacked Reigns and left the "Big Dog" bloodied in the middle of the ring in one of the most vicious sights I've seen in recent memory, with Reigns full of blood in his mouth (I KNOW IT'S KETCHUP, SHUT UP). These two were not there to have a technical bout, they were there to destroy each other, and what's that Strowman successfully did. What lies ahead is a mystery, but Strowman is easily the man to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship, given how hot and how over he is.

MVP OF THE NIGHT (HONORABLE MENTIONS):

Alexa Bliss: And she strikes again. A woman everyone said wouldn't do anything after being drafted from NXT to SmackDown LIVE. Look at her now. Three-time Women's Champion, and the first female WWE superstar to ever hold both the SmackDown Women's Championship and the RAW Women's Championship. Congratulations to Alexa Bliss!

Sheamus & Cesaro: This team wasn't going anywhere from now on, and the Creative Team decided to turn them heel. Cheers to that decision! It's going to be interesting to see how Cesaro will do being a heel, given Sheamus wasn't considered such a babyface while teaming with the "Swiss Superman", but I think it was the best thing the Creative Team could have given them, and now I want to see how they will do being bad guys.

Bray Wyatt: During the match, Wyatt seemed very weak and couldn't attack Orton properly. The "Eater of Worlds" would always be attacked back, and it seemed Orton had the control of the match, not only inside the house, but in the arena. Even though Jinder Mahal allowed Wyatt to pick up the victory, Wyatt left Payback with momentum that WWE should capitalize on, minimum, with a Intercontinental Championship feud.

Alexa Bliss became the first WWE female superstar to hold both the SmackDown LIVE Women's Title and the RAW Women's Title.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: Braun Strowman

Once again, this man left the night as the biggest winner of the show. After destroying only the second man to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania, and keeping the momentum that he had from the last few editions of RAW, Braun Strowman is definitely the man to go on and challenge Brock Lesnar for his WWE Universal Championship. The "Monster Among Men" can be considered the most dominant male superstar in the roster today, and if Roman couldn't defeat him (even though being hurt), nobody can. Who can stop this monster?

Braun Strowman defeated Roman Reigns and set a new level of momentum for himself.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Jeff Hardy gets a broken tooth

During his RAW Tag Team Championship match against Sheamus and Cesaro, Jeff Hardy got a broken tooth after being kicked in the mouth by Sheamus. The replay will give you pain and his mouth will give you a good laugh. Broken teeth is what people love to see in professional wrestling.

And with this I finish this week's first edition of "Da' Hell Happened". Tomorrow I will be back with the review of RAW, and Wednesday with the review of SmackDown LIVE. See you there!
