DA' HELL HAPPENED #53: WWE Monday Night RAW - May 15th, 2017
Hello my dear wrestling "colleagues"! Welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened" featuring the almighty review of this week's Monday Night RAW. The red brand's show was highlighted by a double main event, many matches announced for the upcoming PPV, Extreme Rules, and an Intercontinental Championship match. So let's roll!
RESULTS:
RAW GM Kurt Angle announces an Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way match at Extreme Rules to determine the new #1 contender for the Universal Championship
RAW Tag Team Champion Jeff Hardy def. Sheamus
Alicia Fox def. Sasha Banks
The Miz def. Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose via DQ
Bayley confronted RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville & TJP def. Austin Aries & Gentleman Jack Gallagher
Roman Reigns def. Finn Bálor
Goldust turned on R-Truth
Big Cass def. Titus O'Neil
Seth Rollins def. Bray Wyatt via DQ
MATCH OF THE NIGHT (HONORABLE MENTIONS):
Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz: A fast-paced championship match, full of near-falls, that culminated with a kick to the lower parts of Miz. I really enjoyed the match, and want to see more from these two, but a rematch needs a stipulation if it's going to happen. That being said, the match at Extreme Rules needs changes.
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt: One of the two main events. Very aggressive and physical match-up that has huge implications surrounding the momentum heading to the Fatal 5-Way match at Extreme Rules.
MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Finn Bálor vs. Roman Reigns
Fans had already witnessed this match in the first RAW of last year after the WWE Draft, which saw Finn Bálor in the main event of RAW in his first ever show on the main roster, and on that night he did something he can be even more proud of: defeat Roman Reigns. Now, we had a rematch under different circumstances: at the time, Roman faced a suspension (in real life), and Bálor was hot and debuting in the main roster; now, Roman is one of the two man on Earth to defeat Undertaker at WrestleMania, and Bálor is the first ever Universal Champion, but unfortunately came off from a long-absence due to injury. Reigns got the better over Bálor, but Bálor showed he is a top guy and certainly could win the Fatal 5-Way at ER.
MVP OF THE NIGHT: Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Finn Bálor, Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe
If there's one thing that WWE's booking on Monday Night ensured is that all 5 participants in the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way match stay strong and equal. With that being said, although Wyatt and Reigns stood tall over the rest of the participants, I can't name one to be the MVP, and they are all strong heading to the match at ER.
DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Alicia Fox gets a win on RAW
Any WWE facts page that wants to research the last victory Alicia Fox had on a televised RAW program? Because I clearly can't remember the last match Fox won on live television. We're making history boys! Wow!
And with this I wrap up this week's Da' Hell Happened for RAW. Tomorrow I will be back for the DHH of SmackDown LIVE. See you there!
