DA' HELL HAPPENED #45: WWE SmackDown LIVE - April 18, 2017

Hey everyone and welcome to another edition of "Da' Hell Happened" featuring the review of the April 18th edition of SmackDown LIVE. I had a tough day but was still able to write the SmackDown LIVE edition of DHH today. The blue brand's show of this week was highlighted by a Six Pack Challenge to determine the #1 contender for Randy Orton's WWE Championship, as well as a main event between AJ Styles and Baron Corbin. So let's go!

RESULTS:

Shane McMahon made a match between Naomi and Charlotte Flair
Jinder Mahal def. Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Mojo Rawley in a Six-Pack Challenge to become #1 contender to the WWE Championship
Charlotte Flair def. Naomi to win an opportunity at the SmackDown Women's Championship against the champion next week
Primo & Epico Colon def. American Alpha
Kevin Owens def. Gary Gandy in a "Face of America Open Challenge"
AJ Styles def. Baron Corbin via count out

Charlotte Flair defeated SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi to earn a title shot next week on SD LIVE.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Six Pack Challenge to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship

A very exciting six man tag match that was the spotlight of SmackDown Live. The show was very poor in terms of wrestling matches, but this one really excelled, probably due to being a match that involved six men, all young stars ready to shine in the WWE Championship picture.

The newcomers from RAW Jinder Mahal and Sami Zayn, along with Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper and ATGMBR winner Mojo Rawley squared off in a Six Pack Challenge to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: Jinder Mahal

Who would have thought that Jinder Mahal was going to be the #1 contender for the WWE Championship in 2017? It's amazing to see what SmackDown LIVE does to superstars like Mahal. Superstars that everyone immediately associated to failute, superstars that weren't meant to be top stars, superstars that have been in the mid card and worse their entire career. I wish Mahal the best of luck. He has the potential, the talent and has been putting the hard work into everything that he has received on WWE since returning to the company; now, it's time to show why you say you deserve what you are receiving.

Jinder Mahal will now face the WWE Champion at Backlash.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: "Face of America Open Challenge"

Personally I find this whole "face of America" persona of Kevin Owens a very fun thing to watch. He is a Canadian, and he deserves the heat he is getting. Now, this whole Open Challenge was just a ticket to the main event between Styles and Corbin, did nothing to showcase Owens and was horrible to watch. Unfortunately, the promo after the "match" didn't make up to that, and deserves the "Da' Hell Happened Moment of the Show" this week on SmackDown LIVE.

Hometown favorite Gary Gandy stepped up to face United States Champion Kevin Owens in his "Face of America Open Challenge".

And with this I wrap up this week's Da' Hell Happened from the blue brand. Next week I'll be back to review the final RAW and SmackDown LIVE before the RAW exclusive PPV, "WWE Payback". See you there!
