DA' HELL HAPPENED #12: WWE Monday Night RAW & WWE SmackDown Live, September 5/6 2016

Written by: RĂºben Duarte
How's it going everyone? Welcome to another edition of Da' Hell Happened. This week's WWE shows featured the coronation of a new WWE Universal Champion and the return of a Boss, as well as a heel turn from The Usos, costing American Alpha a chance at the Tag Team titles, and a face-to-face between The Man That Runs The Place and the champion of SmackDown, days before their clash at Backlash. So let's go!

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

This week's RAW marked the first one under the KO Mania era. Even though Kevin Owens would like to move on to another chapter of his career, he saw himself face a man he is very familiar with, and with whom he has a rich past. Non-other than his rival and former best friend Sami Zayn. Needless to say this main event was a great match. Kevin targeted the knee of Zayn during the entire match, and the injury cost Zayn the victory when he failed to hit the "Halluvah Kick", and instead got superkicked and powerbombed by the champion.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: Sasha Banks

I put a lot of thought on this one, because Rollins felt like an MVP as well, and so did KO. But at the end of the night, Sasha Banks was the one that made the biggest impact within the WWE Universe. She made people think that she was going to be out for a long time because of the back injury she suffered at the hands of Charlotte at SummerSlam. Instead, when interrupted by Charlotte's prodigy  Dana Brooke, Banks, for the surprise of everyone, applied the "Bank Statement", submitting Brooke and sending a message to the champion while challenging her to a championship match at Clash Of Champions.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: The Old Day

The New Day/Anderson & Gallows storyline is getting a bit ridiculous. This week, we saw Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson introduce "The Old Day". The members? The New Day, but as elders. Just ridiculous. This team should be ripping people off, not making jokes no one laughs at.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. The Hype Bros

Heath Slater and Rhyno picked a lot of momentum heading into Backlash this past Tuesday on SmackDown Live when they were victorious over The Hype Bros. A clash between two beloved teams of SmackDown which saw Rhyno gore Ryder and receive a ticket for the finals of the SmackDown Tag Team titles tournament at Backlash.

MVP OF THE NIGHT: AJ Styles

This week on SmackDown Live, AJ Styles came out as an embarrassed man after what transpired last week at the end of SmackDown. He was furious. Proof of that is the altercation he had with a member of the WWE crew working with the cameras, as well as destroying a man's cell phone. He went on to be face-to-face with Dean Ambrose in the middle of the ring, only to destroy a bowling participation trophy Ambrose gave to him, and also hitting him with a low-blow to end the show.

HONORABLE MENTIONS (MVP OF THE NIGHT): Carmella and The Usos

Carmella looks as good as she ever was. She went from a wildcard to one of the favorites to win the SmackDown Women's Championship Sunday at Backlash. And The Usos were ruthless, injuring Chad Gable in the process and even earning a second chance to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Backlash.

DA' HELL HAPPENED MOMENT OF THE SHOW: Fandango and Kane's segment

Much like last week's Milkman, Kane's segment this week was our "Da' Hell Happened Moment of the Show". I know we already saw The Big Red Monster hug people, but dance? Don't, please don't.

And with this we finish this week's Da' Hell Happened. We'll be back next week with the first Smackdown Live after the first SmackDown exclusive PPV, and a match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens to determine if we are going to have a singles match or a triple threat match at Clash Of Champions for the WWE Universal Championship. See you next week!
